HP to reconsider global PR arrangements

8th August 2012

HP is set to carry out a wide-ranging review of its PR arrangements, coinciding with the restructuring of its business.

The Holmes Report cites sources close to the matter as stating that HP may wish to consolidate its multimillion-dollar PR contracts with a smaller group of agencies, or shift business between its existing partners.

It comes at a time when the company is seeking to merge its PC business unit with its imaging and printing division, creating a new printing and personal systems group.

Currently, the PC unit is represented by Edelman internationally, while the printing group's PR activities are split between Edelman in Europe, Porter Novelli in the US, and various firms – including Hill and Knowlton Strategies – in Asia.

HP chief executive officer Meg Whitman has expressed confidence that the merger will create a "winning scenario for customers, partners and shareholders".

The company is one of the largest computing technology firms in the world, generating revenues of $127.2 billion (81.22 billion pounds) in 2011.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801424780-ADNFCR
