Iams celebrates 10th anniversary of campaign

12th November 2008

Iams is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its pet adoption campaign, named Home 4 the Holidays.

In partnership with Helen Woodward Animal Centre, the campaign includes traditional media relations, online outreach and a new sports-themed challenge.

The company also uses social networking sites including MySpace, Facebook and YouTube to promote the campaign.

Running from October 1st to January 5th, the campaign is attempting to encourage consumers to adopt animals from their local shelters, with an aim of providing one million homes during the period.

As of November 10th, there were 291,394 adoptions.

The news follows news that cats named after the presidential nominees Barack Obama and John McCain were entered into the Cat Fanciers’ Association-Iams 2008 championship.

Obama was a Bombay cat, with McCain an American Shorthair as they competed for Purr-fect President at the show which appeared at Madison Square Garden, New York.

The show saw more than 40 breeds represented among several hundred competing animals.

Part of Procter and Gamble (P&G), Iams is joined by Eukanuba, Pampers, Charmin, Ariel, Bounty and Olay as part of the company’s portfolio of brands.

P&G employs over 138,000 employees in over 80 countries around the world.
