Idexx Laboratories launches improved SNAP Total T4 Test

13th January 2011

Idexx Laboratories has introduced an improved version of the SNAP Total T4 Test, its diagnostic system for the monitoring of thyroid disease in pets.

The newest upgrade to the test, which is compatible with the Idexx SNAPshot Dx Analyzer, is designed to provide fast and clinically-accurate results, which can be viewed by the pet owner during their initial visit.

Its reference intervals and interpretive information have been directly aligned with those of the Idexx Reference Laboratories Total T4 assay in order to provide consistent interpretation methodology between the two devices.

In addition, it uses a single sample volume and one dynamic range covering canine, feline and equine patients, which simplifies the process of running the test.

Peter Kintzer, a veterinarian and Idexx internal medicine consultant, said: "I like the efficiency of running the SNAP Total T4 Test in-house, because I can discuss the results with clients before they leave the practice, answer their questions and prescribe medication as needed."

Last month, Idexx Laboratories upgraded the SNAPshot Dx Analyser to offer automated recording capabilities for the SNAP Heartworm RT Test.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800341246-ADNFCR
