Idexx Laboratories revenue increases in first quarter

26th April 2010

Idexx Laboratories has hailed its “solid” performance during the first quarter of 2010 after posting a 14 per cent increase in revenues.

The animal health company revenue figure for the period came to $268.5 million (173.9 million pounds), up from $236.5 million in the first quarter of 2009.

This growth was reflected across the company’s companion animal, production animal and water divisions, with its Catalyst Dx chemistry analyser highlighted as a particularly strong performer.

Jonathan Ayers, chairman and chief executive officer of Idexx Laboratories, also expressed confidence that its newly-introduced ProCyte Dx haematology analyser will help to drive sales further over the coming year.

He said: “Having generated high single-digit organic revenue growth in an economic environment that remains challenging is a testament to our success in continued technology, innovation and strong commercial execution across our markets around the world.”

Last month, the company announced the appointment of former Health Management Associates chief executive officer Joseph Vumbacco to its board of directors.
