Integrated DNA Technologies launches xGen Universal Blocking Oligos

13th December 2013

Integrated DNA Technologies has announced the launch of its new xGen Universal Blocking Oligos, the latest addition to its next-generation sequencing portfolio.

Blocking oligos are commonly used to enhance the performance of target capture experiments, allowing the prevention of cross-hybridisation between adapter sequences. They bind to adapters ligated to the DNA library before enrichment, preventing non-specific binding that causes an increase in off-target reads.

The xGen Universal Blocking Oligos overcomes the issues that often arise when multiple samples are processed simultaneously, as generally each adapter requires a unique blocking oligo, thereby increasing the complexity of the experiment.

Integrated DNA Technologies' new product can bind to all indexed adapters using a single oligonucleotide sequence, removing the need for multiple oligos and allowing users to easily multiplex their experiments for cost-effective enrichment of thousands of samples.

The company said: "By incorporating these oligos into target capture experiments, users can decrease the complexity and increase throughput of their target capture experiment without degradation of performance."

This comes after the firm launched its new xGen acute myeloid leukaemia cancer panel earlier this year.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801672491-ADNFCR
