Intervet unveils horse campaign
Intervet/Schering-Plough Animal Health has teamed up with the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) to unveil a vaccine provision scheme.
The Unwanted Horse Veterinary Relief Campaign (UHVRC) is a non-profit programme aimed at giving equine vaccines to retirement and rescue facilities.
The company will donate to qualifying companies so they can provide healthcare and rehabilitation to unwanted horses.
It is hoped that eventually the animals can be re-homed.
“We have chosen to demonstrate this commitment by teaming up with the AAEP to establish the UHVRC to help make unwanted horses more adoptable and the rescues less burdened,” explained Cynthia Gutierrez, equine technical services veterinarian at Intervet/Schering Plough Animal Health.
Meanwhile, the company said it was time to declare “open season” against intestinal parasites earlier this year.
A statement warned dog owners of the “serious” threat worm infections can cause in dogs and, although easily preventable, they do not always show symptoms.
