Inverness Medical forges partnership with Epocal

11th January 2010

Inverness Medical has entered into a partnership with Epocal, which will see the former firm use its global sales department to promote the point-of-care system co-exclusively with Epocal worldwide.

As part of the five-year contract, Inverness will pay $20 million (12.3 million pounds) for Epocal to supply it with the products and will pay the firm half of all its revenues from the items.

The epoc Blood Analysis System is a point-of-care analysis system providing wireless bedside blood gas and electrolyte measurement testing solutions.

It is awaiting confirmation of CE-mark approval, which is due this year.

Chief executive of Inverness Medical Ron Zwanziger, commented: “The epoc platform, with its innovative blood gas and electrolyte solution, represents an exciting compliment in cardiology and emergency rooms to our Triage platform.”

In other Inverness Medical developments, the firm pointed out the results of a trial last month, which found that its Triage NGAL Test is effective in determining which intensive care unit patients are at risk due to acute kidney injury.
