Invitrogen hear Dr Jones’ view on life science

23rd June 2008

Invitrogen has launched a new programme that will distribute grants to advance science literacy.

Hollywood star Harrison Ford and sociobiologist Dr Edward Wilson joined the firm at the launch of the grant which will support programmes and organisations dedicated to increasing the participation in, and understanding of, the life sciences sector.

Greg Lucier, the firm’s chairman and chief executive, said it was an "honour" to hear the two’s perspectives of science education.

"They have used their unique talents and perspectives to champion conservation and appreciation of the life sciences, and their efforts serve as a model for all of us," he added.

Meanwhile, the firm won six gongs at the recent Life Science Industry Awards including those for having the most responsive customer service team and the most useful website.

The company recently received clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration for its DynaChip antibody analysis system, which it claims is the only automated chip-based system for the detection and identification of human leukocyte antigen.
