Ivoclar Vivadent announces improved OptraDam Plus

20th August 2009

Ivoclar Vivadent has announced that it has made improvements to its OptraDam dental dam.

In order to ensure dentists can ensure the isolation of a particular tooth while working on oral cavities, the OptraDam Plus has been launched. The suffix assures dentists that patient comfort has been optimised and material properties have undergone improvement.

The new device consists of a latex sheet featuring a perforation pattern which better matches the curvatures of the mouth. The two plastic rings this is stretched across have also been softened for the benefit of the patient.

It also ensures that the area to be treated is completely isolated as fitting has been made easier, allowing for the septa of OptraDam Plus to pass through the proximal contacts.

Meanwhile, it was recently claimed that Ivoclar Vivadent’s ceramic – IPS e.max Lithium Disilicate – is the dental industry’s most durable and effective ceramic product launched to date, according to a study conducted by the New York University College of Dentistry.
