Ivoclar Vivadent to acquire dental technology firm Kapanu
Ivoclar Vivadent has announced the acquisition of Kapanu, a dental technology start-up company based in Switzerland.
A spin-off from ETH Zurich, the firm was founded in 2015 and consists of a team of scientists and developers specialising in the creation of leading-edge software for the dental industry.
Following the acquisition, Ivoclar Vivadent intends to work with Kapanu to develop innovative dental applications that connect real-life processes with the digital world, with a specific focus on the emerging promise of augmented reality (AR) technology.
Their main objective will be to determine how AR can be used to facilitate dental diagnostics, case analysis and treatment therapies.
Ivoclar Vivadent will be able to offer a wider range of products and systems following the takeover of Kapanu, strengthening its status as one of the world's leading manufacturers of material systems for high-quality dental applications.
The firm currently owns subsidiaries in 25 countries and employs around 3,500 people worldwide.
