Janssen and Enterome Bioscience collaborate on Crohn’s research
Janssen has entered into a new research collaboration agreement with Enterome Bioscience, a specialist developer of therapeutic solutions based on the gut microbiome.
The partnership also includes the French National Institute for Agriculture Research and is focused on the discovery of novel targets and bioactive gut microbiome molecules for the potential development of therapeutic solutions to Crohn's disease.
Enterome has already identified a number of bacterial strains, genes and products with immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory properties by combining its own advanced proprietary metagenomics tools and screening technologies.
The aim will be to advance the characterisation and therapeutic validation of these bacterial products, increase knowledge of the regulation of immunity and gut homeostasis, and potentially open up new avenues for Crohn's disease treatment.
Pierre Belichard, chief executive officer of Enterome, said: "We look forward to advancing through collaborations that continue to reflect positively on our strong recognition from the pharmaceutical industry."
This comes after it was announced that Janssen will be collaborating with Bavarian Nordic to develop a vaccine for chronic human papillomavirus infections.
