Janssen launches Investigator Databank scheme for clinical trials

20th November 2012

Janssen has announced the launch of a groundbreaking new Investigator Databank that is designed to improve the efficiency of industry-sponsored clinical trials.

The global cross-sector collaboration will involve the creation of a one-stop repository where key information about clinical trial sites – such as infrastructure and Good Clinical Practice training records – is stored.

Lilly and Merck Sharp and Dohme are the first partners to commit to participating in this project, which will make it easier for companies to identify appropriate trial sites and investigators for future clinical studies.

The aim of this initiative is to reduce the amount of administrative work involved in carrying out drug trials, while preserving patient confidentiality and safety.

Dr Andreas Koester, head of clinical trial innovation and external alliances at Janssen's research and development division, said: "We are enthusiastic about working with other industry leaders to collectively apply our expertise, capabilities and shared passion for advancing science and improving lives."

Last week, the company reported data from the phase III Psummit trial which demonstrates the benefits of Stelara, its therapy for psoriatic arthritis.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801491111-ADNFCR
