Janssen provides grant for mental health scholarship fund
Janssen has provided an educational grant to the Centre for Global Mental Health to support its Global Mental Health Scholarship Fund.
The centre – which is affiliated with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London – will use this money to provide scholarships for nine outstanding future leaders in the field of mental health during the 2014-18 academic years.
This new funding allocation has been given as part of Janssen's global Healthy Minds programme. To date, the firm has supported 18 full scholarships through the Global Mental Health Scholarship Fund, including this new grant and contributions in its inaugural 2013-14 academic year.
Jane Griffiths, chairman of Janssen in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, said: "The growth of the programme and fund will see more scholars dispatched to the corners of the world where their expertise is needed the most and will have the greatest impact."
Healthy Minds was launched in 2011 with the overall aim of accelerating progress in the fight against brain disorders that affect millions of people around the world.
