Johnson and Johnson shows Aveeno to effectively manage eczema symptoms

17th January 2008

Johnson & Johnson (J&J) has reported that a new clinical study shows its Aveeno eczema care products to effectively manage the signs and symptoms of eczema.

The pharmaceutical company reports that all the subjects who used the Aveeno Eczema care moisturising cream twice-daily experienced improvement in roughness in one week.

Nearly 90 per cent of consumers found that the moisturising cream help managed the daily symptoms of eczema while a separate study found that 78 per cent of consumers reported the same benefits for the Aveeno eczema care body wash.

In all, Aveeno eczema care products showed significant improvements in itching and skin scaling after one week of use, J&J suggested.

Judith Nebus, manager of clinical research for skin care at Aveeno, commented: “Key ingredients in the patented formula, including Ceramides and Panthenol, moisturise and help protect the skin’s barrier to help prevent the recurrence of redness, irritation and extra dry skin.”

Aveeno Eczema Care products are formulated with natural colloidal oat meal and pure oat essence to help soothe symptoms like red, irritated and itchy skin.

At the start of the month, it was reported that J&J was to acquire four consumer health brands from the Indian unit of manufacturer Pfizer.
