Johnson and Johnson’s Attune Knee System shows value in new report
Johnson and Johnson has announced the publication of a new report showing the value offered by its Attune Knee System.
Created by its subsidiary DePuy Synthes, the device's clinical and economic benefits were recently evaluated in a study authored by the medical experts Dr David Fisher and Professor David Parkin.
It assessed approaches for evaluating primary total knee arthroplasty (TKA) from a clinical and health economics perspective, finding that Attune provides advantages for medical professionals, patients and those funding the system alike.
The report also noted that in a value-based healthcare environment constrained by costs and growing procedure volumes, the value of an implant should be measured not only by how long the implant lasts, but also through patient-reported outcomes and the economic benefits of the procedure.
It concluded: "Based on available data, the Attune Knee appears to be advancing outcomes for patients and creating value for clinicians, providers and payors in a challenging and dynamic healthcare environment."
