Jurox launches new booklet of guidelines for rabbit anaesthesia

21st November 2017

Jurox has announced the launch of a new expert panel guidelines booklet offering guidance on the proper process with anaesthetising pet rabbits.

The Considerations for Anaesthetising Rabbits booklet was produced following the inaugural rabbit anaesthesia roundtable meeting in June 2017, which featured a panel of leading experts discussing best practice in rabbit anaesthetics.

Topics focus on the challenges faced by vets and nurses when presented with pet rabbit patients, including advice on handling rabbits, anaesthetic drugs, procedures and what to look out for when providing care.

Special attention has been given to the considerations veterinary professionals must take in practice in order to reduce anxiety of rabbits as much as possible at every stage, which is vital given that rabbits are a prey species that can become easily stressed.

It will also provide information on medications that are often used in rabbits, staff training priorities, induction processes and important points of difference.

Richard Beckwith, country manager of Jurox, said the booklet will "raise anaesthesia and analgesia standards in veterinary practices".
