KCI completes MoMelan Technologies takeover
KCI has announced that it has completed the acquisition of the Massachusetts-based medical products developer MoMelan Technologies.
Founded in 2009 as a spin-off from the labs of Professor Rox Anderson at Massachusetts General Hospital, the company specialises in the development of innovative skin grafting solutions and will complement KCI's existing operations and strategy.
The firm is responsible for the development of an innovative epidermal grafting solution which utilises donor site-sparing technology to enable and standardise the process, in a way that can be performed in the office or outpatient setting with minimal discomfort.
It is an ideal strategic fit for KCI's portfolio of negative pressure technologies, including the market-leading KCI VAC system.
Peter Arnold, senior vice-president, innovation and strategic marketing at KCI, said: "This innovation is a quick and relatively painless approach to harvesting a patient’s skin cells for grafting and other therapeutic procedures.”
This comes after KCI announced the appointment of Timothy Guertin to the board of directors of its parent company earlier this month.
