KCI reports positive LifeCell Strattice trial data

7th October 2010

KCI has presented encouraging data from an ongoing clinical study of its new Strattice reconstructive tissue matrix at a recent medical event.

The group, via its regenerative medicine business unit LifeCell, attended the American College of Surgeons clinical congress this week to announce 12-month interim data from the Rich trial.

This trial is designed to evaluate Strattice's performance in aiding the repair of infected or contaminated abdominal incisional hernias, with the data showing that the tissue matrix is demonstrating a high success rate.

KCI states that it represents a "landmark study", as it is the only prospective multicentre examination of complex hernia repair to date.

Other products demonstrated by the company at the conference included its ABThera open abdomen negative pressure therapy system, as well as various regenerative medicine innovations.

Earlier this year, the company launched the Prevena incision management system, a device designed to help surgical wounds heal more effectively.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800104060-ADNFCR
