Kimal launches new mobile infusion pump

10th June 2010

Kimal has released a new infusion pump system designed to allow patients to remain mobile and live a normal lifestyle while receiving nutrition through an IV drip.

The company’s new medical systems subsidiary has launched the Kimal IVantage pump in Europe, having purchased the intellectual property rights to the device from the US-based Delphi Medical Systems.

Among the advantages of the ambulatory pump are its lightweight design, quiet running and intuitive use, making it easier to avoid operational errors.

It is designed to be programmed for a range of different applications, allowing it to be used for continuous infusion, intermittent dosing and patient-controlled analgesia, among other therapy methods.

Alan Press, chief executive of Kimal, said: “We are pleased to be able to add the IVantage infusion pump to the portfolio of products and consumables which are chosen by clinicians around the world because of their added value.”

Earlier this year, Kimal unveiled the NxStage System One, a home haemodialysis device which is only 17 inches high and 17 inches wide.
