Kimberly-Clark purchases Life-Tech anaesthesia business

5th April 2013

Kimberly-Clark has announced the acquisition of the anaesthesia business of Life-Tech, encompassing a range of needles, catheters and accessories associated with peripheral nerve block (PNB) procedures.

The takeover will see Kimberly-Clark take control of assets from the Texas-based medical device manufacturer and incorporate them into its Health Care business, within its ON-Q product range.

Previously, Kimberly-Clark acted as a distributor of Life-Tech's anaesthesia-based product portfolio, with the acquisition falling in line with its strategy of enhancing its leadership position in the PNB field.

According to Life-Tech, the sale will allow its customers to benefit from a wider array of services, products and support, courtesy of Kimberly-Clark.

Joanne Bauer, president for Kimberly-Clark Health Care, said: "The Life-Tech assets will allow ON-Q to capitalise on its leading position in the pain pump market and enhance margins on these products through internal manufacturing."

Last month, the company announced the appointment of advertising veteran Clive Sirkin as its new vice-president and chief marketing officer.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801567315-ADNFCR
