Kimberly-Clark to participate in UN Global Compact

15th December 2010

Kimberly-Clark has become a signatory of the United Nations (UN) Global Compact as part of its commitment to good corporate practice.

The health and personal care company has agreed to participate in the world's largest corporate citizenship and sustainability initiative, which involves pledges to honour standards in promoting human rights, anti-corruption and the environment.

It will also see the firm complete an annual Communication on Progress submission, in which it must demonstrate its advances in promoting the compact's ten founding principles.

Kimberly-Clark joins more than 8,000 other companies around the world in signing up to the compact, allowing it to pursue a collaborative approach to sustainability measures.

Suhas Apte, vice-president of global sustainability at Kimberly-Clark, said: "As part of our longstanding commitment to social, environmental and economic sustainability, Kimberly-Clark has been centred on similar values that the UN Global Compact promotes in industries and economies worldwide."

Last month, the company appointed Sue Dodsworth as its new global diversity officer in order to create a more inclusive business environment.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800292946-ADNFCR
