Kyowa Hakko Kirin’s 2009 results ‘in line with predictions’
Kyowa Hakko Kirin has reported its financial results for 2009, which it stated were in line with previous expectations.
The firm’s consolidated net sales reached 306.1 billion yen (2.126 billion pounds), while the organisation’s operating income stood at 28.2 billion yen.
Additionally, the firm revealed its forecast for 2010, predicting a 16.4 per cent rise in operating income for the full year.
Yuzuru Matsuda, president and chief executive officer of Kyowa Hakko Kirin, said that the firm’s results were affected in 2009 by factors such as the “slow recovery” of the global economy.
He added: “Based on our strong financial foundations, we will continue to evolve from our foundations in biotechnology to become a world-class research and development life sciences group, focused on pharmaceuticals.”
At the end of October 2009, Kyowa Hakko Kirin revealed its financial results for the third quarter of the year, posting consolidated net sales of 194.3 billion yen during the timeframe.
