Lab M introduces new culture media offering

2nd February 2011

Lab M has announced the launch of a new microbiological culture medium for the detection of coagulase-positive staphylococci.

The Modified Giolitti and Cantoni Broth is able to identify and enumerate the presence of this bacteria in food materials using the Most Probable Number technique, in compliance with specific ISO standards.

It is optmised for use in contexts where staphylococci presence is stressed or low, promoting growth via the inclusion in the formulation of sodium pyruvate, glycine and high concentration mannitol.

Meanwhile, selectivity is provided by its potassium tellurite and lithium chloride content, which helps to inhibit other Gram-positive organisms and Gram-negative bacilli from developing.

A Lab M statement said: "The introduction of this Modified Giolitti and Cantoni Broth enhances Lab M's range of media for the isolation of coagulase-positive staphylococci in accordance with ISO 6888-3:2003."

Last month, the company attended the Society for Applied Microbiology's winter meeting, where it introduced its new product Differential Reinforced Clostridial Medium ISO.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800381667-ADNFCR
