Lab M launches Alkaline Saline Peptone Water
Lab M has announced the launch of Alkaline Saline Peptone Water, a Vibrio spp. medium that has been designed to meet international ISO standards.
The product is intended for the selective enrichment of Vibrio spp., a bacteria strain that is commonly found in warm coastal waters and can cause a number of health issues through the contamination of seafood.
It can be used alongside the company's existing TCBS Cholera Medium, which is designed to suppress the growth of Enterobacteriaciae and enable the selective isolation of Vibrio spp.
The manufacturer said: "The elevated pH and salt concentration in this easily prepared formulation ensure a favourable environment for enrichment, while peptone provides essential vitamins, minerals, amino acids and nitrogen needed for growth."
It means Lab M now provides a complete media offering for the enrichment and detection of Vibrio spp. from food and water samples.
This comes after the firm last month launched MRS Agar, a new addition to its lactic acid bacteria portfolio.
