Lab M launches Pinnacle pre-poured plates for salmonella confirmation

Lab M has announced the launch of its new Pinnacle Salmonella ABC pre-poured plates, which are designed for the isolation of salmonellae from food samples.

Based on the company's established Harlequin Salmonella ABC medium, the new offering provides a number of advantages in salmonella confirmation, thanks to its increased selectivity against competitive flora such as E. coli.

The medium also possesses an enhanced dual chromogen system to ensure colonies of salmonella are always green, while non-target organisms appear black or colourless for clarity of differentiation.

Currently, there remains strong demand for better testing for salmonella in foodstuffs, as evidenced by recent outbreaks and food recalls.

The company said: "This patented chromogenic system reduces the risk of missing organisms that are present only in low numbers and results in fewer false positives."

Lab M launched its Pinnacle range earlier this year, enabled by the expanded plate-pouring capabilities offered by its new UK headquarters.
