Laborie completes takeover of Mediwatch

Laborie has announced the finalisation of its acquisition of Mediwatch, a manufacturer and distributor of innovative medical products.

The company was founded in 1996 in the UK, expanding to open a US office in 2007 following its purchase of the urology functional diagnostics division of Medtronic.

It specialises in the creation of urology and gastrointestinal diagnostic products including urodynamics systems and disposables, bladder scanners, uroflowmeters, pelvic floor biofeedback equipment, anorectal manometry systems and PSA test equipment and disposables.

Combining the resources of the two companies will allow Laborie to accelerate the creation of innovative products and provide more comprehensive sales, customer service and after-sales service to all of its clients worldwide.

Brian Ellacott, Laborie's president and chief executive officer, said: "This acquisition further strengthens our foundation in pelvic muscle rehabilitation and gastrointestinal diagnostics by combining two market leaders in urology and gastrointestinal diagnostic products."

This comes after purchased the pelvic muscle rehabilitation business of fellow healthcare company UroMed Technology last year.
