“Largest ever” children’s health survey launched

2nd February 2009

The “largest ever” children’s health survey has been launched.

Named Change4Life, the study will see approximately 11 million questionnaires sent out to families in the UK, who will supply information about eating and activity habits, in return for receiving a plan to suggest better dietary regimes.

Accompanying the scheme is a television campaign, which was launched on January 31st.

Dawn Primarolo, public health minister, said: “Families who take part in this survey and tell us about their eating and exercise habits will be sent a unique health plan by our experts to help them eat well, move more and live longer.”

She added the Change4Life campaign is supporting and informing families, in a bid to encourage healthier choices for future generations.

Last month, a survey revealed a third of people do not know how hepatitis C can be transmitted between people.

The findings of the study – commissioned by the Department of Health – were released to coincide with an awareness campaign.
