Laser hair removal ‘buoyant’ despite recession

23rd November 2009

A survey of the nation’s Cynosure private clinics revealed that the recession has only had a small effect on half of its establishments, while a quarter believe there has been no change in demand at all.

Nearly two-thirds said that the recession has not damaged their business and over 90 per cent thought that the industry’s future is bright.

Karen Tipping, marketing manager for Cynosure, said: “The buoyancy of the laser market is great to see and provides a beacon to other sectors of the aesthetic market.

“Cynosure clinics nationwide are continuing to show a steady rate of growth and in this recession that is only achieved through hard work and a continuing commitment to high standards of practice.”

Forty-five per cent of clinics believe the popularity of laser hair removal is down to the fact that it is cost-effective in the long term.

Cynosure’s laser technologies also have a range of other applications, including cellulite treatment, anti-ageing and the reduction of skin pigmentation.
