Leica Microsystems launches new DM6 M LIBS microscope
Leica Microsystems has announced the launch of its new DM6 M LIBS microscope for chemical and materials analysis.
The new device allows users to analyse the two main characteristics of a material – its microstructure and composition – in a single work step, resulting in time savings of up to 90 percent compared with standard electron microscopy.
It features an integrated laser spectroscopy function and is able to offer insights into the chemical composition of any microstructure within its field of view in less than one second, while eliminating the need for sample transfer and much of the time associated with sample preparation.
This allows users to focus on structures of interest and trigger the LIBS analysis with a single click, with the sample remaining in air during the entire analysis.
Markus Lusser, president of Leica Microsystems, said: "According to what we hear from our customers, this new way of working made possible with the DM6 M LIBS solution can replace a long-established and accepted effort-intensive workflow in almost all areas of application."
