Leica Microsystems offers the ‘only confocal microscope that adapts to samples’

21st February 2008

Leica Microsystems has launched its new confocal microscope complete with supercontinuum laser.

According to the company, the Leica TCS SP5 X provides a level of "freedom and flexibility" which was previously unattainable in fluorescence microscopy.

The "groundbreaking" supercontinuum laser allows researchers to select any excitation line with a continuous range of 470 to 670 mm, while optimal adjustment of the excitation line – in one nm increments – reduces cross-excitation and minimizes sample damage.

Leica added that the broadband capabilities of the TCS SP5 AOBS are included in this pacesetting confocal system.

"This new exciting technology makes the Leica TCS SP5 X the confocal microscope of choice for researchers striving for more," it continued.

Leica Microsystems designs and produces high-tech precision optics systems for the analysis of microstructures.

It consists of nine manufacturing facilities which service companies in more than 20 worldwide locations.
