Leica shows off product range at major trade fair

19th November 2007

Leica Microsystems has presented its "extensive product portfolio" to the world’s largest medical fair.

According to the optics technology manufacturer, the range on show at Germany’s Medica fair last week featured "innovative products and system solutions for the most diverse medical applications."

Incorporating Leica’s new FusionOptic technology, the M205 C makes use of what Leica has called a "neurological phenomenon".

While the device’s left beam path produces depth of field, the right beam path provides a high-resolution image, with the human brain combining the best information from both channels to compose the optimum image.

Meanwhile, the surgical microscope Leica M525 OH4 offers 36 per cent more reach than comparable instruments and is aimed in particular at ENT and spine specialists.

Leica added that with its DMD108, the company is "breaking new ground in digital microscopy".

"For the first time, this innovative network solution for pathologists integrates microscope, camera, and PC in one compact system for excellent diagnostic image quality and convenient documentation, presentation and data exchange facilities," explained a spokesperson for the firm.

During the four-day Medica fair, around 137,000 trade visitors from up to 100 countries made the trip to Germany to see the vast array of medical products.ADNFCR-1050-ID-18359805-ADNFCR
