Life Technologies organises volunteer charity drive

27th May 2010

Life Technologies has conducted an international half-day volunteer initiative to support a variety of humanitarian and community programmes across the world.

The science company has held its Global Volunteer Day this week, during which more than 3,600 of the firm’s employees dedicated a total of more than 12,000 hours to perform community service.

These included initiatives such as charity work and lending assistance in environmental preservation projects, with volunteer work having taken place in 28 different countries.

Gregory Lucier, chairman and chief executive officer of Life Technologies, said the annual event, which has taken place for seven years in a row as of 2010, represents the “cornerstone” of its community support efforts.

He added: “Even as we expand our philanthropic efforts each year this day of giving as a global team will continue to be one of the company’s proudest citizenship achievements.”

Last month, the Life Technologies group posted its financial results for the first quarter of 2010, reporting a 13 per cent year-on-year increase in non-GAAP revenue.
