Lilly and T1D Exchange agree new diabetes collaboration

10th April 2014

Lilly has announced a new research collaboration with T1D Exchange that will deepen both organisations' understanding of the experiences of type 1 diabetes patients.

The partnership gives Lilly access to T1D Exchange's innovative, patient-centric model that connects a clinical registry of more than 26,000 people with T1D, a clinic network comprised of more than 70 clinics across the US.

Through the multi-year collaboration, the organisations will engage in a range of projects that combine this resource with Lilly's expertise in the field of diabetes, allowing them to gain deeper, real-world insights about how diabetes patients live.

By doing so, they will be able to identify new ways to improve care and advance outcomes, with multiple projects planned over an initial five-year period.

Dr Dara Schuster, medical fellow at Lilly Diabetes, said this alliance "will help us continue our mission of addressing the global diabetes burden through the development of innovative medicines and programmes".

This comes after the firm teamed with Boehringer Ingelheim last year to launch a major multinational survey to investigate early conversations between physicians and type 2 diabetes patients.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801711488-ADNFCR
