Lilly appoints new corporate affairs and communications head

Lilly has announced the appointment of Leigh Ann Pusey as senior vice-president of corporate affairs and communications, effective as of June 12th.

Ms Pusey currently serves as president and chief executive of the American Insurance Association, an insurance industry trade association representing more than 300 US companies providing property and casualty insurance.

She has been consistently recognised by The Hill as one of the top lobbyists in Washington DC and was named by the National Journal as one of the 25 most influential women in Washington in 2012.

In her new role at Lilly, she will lead the company's public affairs and lobbying efforts and become a member of its executive committee, bringing a wealth of public affairs leadership experience to the organisation.

David Ricks, president and chief executive officer of Lilly, said: "Her ability to convene conversations and drive proactive policy solutions will be critical in our efforts to promote and sustain medical innovation, so patients and the healthcare system benefit from a new era of medicine."
