Lilly launches Android version of Glucagon diabetes support app
Lilly has announced the launch of a new version of its Glucagon diabetes support app that is compatible with the Android mobile operating system.
The app is designed for caregivers and healthcare providers who support people with diabetes. It offers an injection tutorial and emergency instructions to help people practice ahead of time, with other features including kit location and expiration date logs.
Lilly's Glucagon app will be made available as a free download on the Google Play store. It has been distributed via the iOS App Store on Apple mobile devices since September 2012.
The software is designed to accompany the drug Glucagon, a treatment for insulin coma or insulin reaction resulting from severe low blood sugar.
Matt Caffrey, senior director for consumer marketing at Lilly Diabetes, said: "The new version of the Lilly Glucagon mobile app leverages the power of Android mobile technology, helping us reach even more caregivers and providing another opportunity to support people living with type 1 diabetes."
Last month, the company announced a new partnership with Immunocore, which will revolve around an immunotherapy-based clinical trial collaboration in the field of melanoma.
