Lilly launches discreet insulin device HumaPen Savvio

18th March 2013

Lilly has announced the UK launch of HumaPen Savvio, a next-generation insulin delivery device for use with the Humalog and Humulin brands of insulin.

The new product has been designed to resemble a personal accessory rather than a medical device, allowing diabetes patients to incorporate the device into their daily lives and be more discreet about taking their medication.

It features a compact, attractive and durable design and is available in several different colours in the UK, while its insulin delivery performance has also been demonstrated in clinical tests.

Insulin users' individual lifestyles were candidly discussed and observed as part of a research project spanning six countries that played a key role in the design of the HumaPen Savvio.

Dr Arash Tahbaz, Lilly's senior medical advisor, said: "The process of developing HumaPen Savvio reflects our commitment to people-led innovations, as it required an understanding of people's emotional responses to their medical treatment."

Lilly recently announced that it will offer a full update on the latest developments in its diabetes portfolio at the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions in June 2013.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801557709-ADNFCR
