Lilly names new oncology research head

14th March 2011

Lilly has appointed Dr Greg Plowman to the newly created role of vice-president for oncology research and senior vice-president of ImClone Systems research.

Commencing March 28th 2011, Dr Plowman will be based at Lilly's oncology subsidiary ImClone and will take responsibility for the company's research strategies and drug development targets.

He joins the firm after serving six years as a senior director in research at Genentech, where he helped to guide research efforts in the fields of anti-angiogenesis, biomedical imaging and tumour biology.

In his new role, he will report jointly to Lilly Research Laboratories' executive vice-president for science and technology and president Dr Jan Lundberg and Dr Bernhard Ehmer, president of ImClone.

Dr Lundberg said: "Greg's position is unique and his experience makes him an ideal choice for this new position."

This comes after the company named Sue Mahony as senior vice-president and president of its Lilly Oncology division last month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800459150-ADNFCR
