Lilly names new treasurer and finance head

Lilly has announced the appointment of Philip Johnson as its new treasurer and senior vice-president for finance, effective as of January 1st 2018.

Mr Johnson has been with Lilly for 22 years, serving in a variety of financial roles, taking on his current post as vice-president for investor relations in 2007. Prior to this, he was vice-president of finance and chief financial officer for its global manufacturing and quality unit.

Before joining Lilly, he worked for six years in investment banking and management consulting in the US and Europe, meaning he can boast considerable expertise in this area.

In his new role, Mr Johnson will continue to lead Lilly's investor relations efforts and will report to Joshua Smiley, who will become senior vice-president and chief financial officer of Lilly on the same day.

Mr Smiley said: "With his external focus and experience in the capital markets, Phil is an ideal candidate to assume this important position and to help guide Lilly's financial strategy."
