Lilly partners organisations to launch Conversation Map

13th November 2008

Lilly has announced that it has joined forces with Healthy Interactions and the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) to launch a resource.

Named Conversation Map, the conversation-based learning tool is focused on diabetes and is set to be launched in Latin America, following its release in Europe earlier this year.

It is hoped that the resource will be introduced to more than 40 countries over this year and 2009.

Designed to be used in small groups of patients – such as three to ten – the Conversation Map tools feature a table-top visual and related material that fosters an interactive learning experience to help in the treatment of diabetes.

Marg McGill, senior vice-president of IDF and chair of the consultative section on education, said that the disease is a global health epidemic, with more than 16 million sufferers in Latin America alone.

She added: “As the global leader in diabetes advocacy, we are excited to partner with Healthy Interactions and Lilly to introduce this innovative educational resource that may encourage better understanding and self-management of diabetes.”

Founded in 1876 in Indiana, US, Lilly developed the first effective treatment for pernicious anaemia in 1928, with the researchers involved sharing a Nobel prize.
