Lilly posts corporate responsibility and health programmes updates
Lilly has posted its 2014 Corporate Responsibility Update and 2015 Global Health Programs Report, highlighting the strong progress it has made towards key targets.
In its Corporate Responsibility Update, the company revealed that the firm gave more than $590 million (389.96 million pounds) in charitable contributions last year, while once again receiving a 100 percent rating on the Human Rights Campaign Corporate Equality Index.
Moreover, it has reduced its water intake by 35 percent in absolute terms between 2007 and 2013 – exceeding its goal of a 25 percent reduction – and encouraged more than 24,000 employees in nearly 60 countries to volunteer in their local communities through the 2014 Lilly Global Day of Service.
Meanwhile, the 2015 Global Health Programs Report showed that the firm has collaborated with nearly 40 partners since 2003 to fight the rising burden of multidrug-resistant tuberculosis, while providing more than $20 million in funding for tuberculosis drug discovery and strengthening the capacity of over 100,000 healthcare providers to combat the disease.
Additionally, its Lilly NCD Partnership has allowed it to work with seven partners in Brazil, India, Mexico and South Africa to find new diabetes care solutions for people living in poverty.
