Lilly to present new cancer drug data

18th May 2010

Lilly is to present data on a number of treatments from its oncology drug portfolio at an upcoming medical conference.

The company will attend the 46th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology next month to outline results from 57 studies, which focus on new therapies such as Alimta and Gemzar.

This data will provide information on the potential efficacy of Gemzar in combination with other drugs, while a regime of Alimta plus platinum-based chemotherapy and concurrent radiation therapy will be evaluated as a treatment for lung cancer.

In addition, the company will also present new trial data relating to Erbitux, which it has developed in collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck Serono.

John Johnson, president of Lilly Oncology, said: “We are constantly studying new uses for our established therapies and discovering new molecules – all in the hopes of changing the way we treat cancer.”

Last month, Lilly published its financial report for the first quarter of 2010, reporting a nine per cent year-on-year revenue increase.
