L’Oreal appoints first UK chief marketing officer
L'Oreal has announced the appointment of Hugh Pile as its first chief marketing officer (CMO) for the UK and Ireland as part of an ongoing restructuring of its management.
In his newly-created role, he will be responsible for consumer and market insight, consumer affairs, media management and social listening functions, while collaborating closely with digital and marketing teams from various L'Oreal brands.
He was previously employed as marketing and innovation director at Diageo in Vietnam, working with the company since 2005 in a wide variety of roles spanning various geographical territories.
L'Oreal's UK and Ireland country managing director Michel Brousset said: "Hugh's expertise will be critical in driving forward several key initiatives, helping us to fulfil our mission to make consumers aware of products designed to meet their needs and to be one step ahead of trends."
The personal care and beauty company is seeking to align marketing with other functions such as consumer insight and social listening, following the appointment of Marc Speichert as global CMO last November.
Since then, it has been hiring regional CMOs for a number of territories, with Mr Pile's appointment being the latest.
