L’Oreal earns A grade from CDP for work to combat deforestation

9th December 2016

L'Oreal has once again been recognised as a global leader for its strategy and actions in fighting against deforestation by the CDP.

The not-for-profit organisation, which evaluates the strategy, commitment and performance of companies worldwide on climate change mitigation, has awarded L'Oreal an A grade – the highest level of performance – for its sustainable sourcing of raw materials used in its product packaging and formulas.

This underlines the firm's dedication to protecting forests in the sourcing of wood, timber and palm oil. Of the 175 large companies independently assessed against CDP's scoring methodology, only eight received an A grade.

L'Oreal has also recently earned A grades from the CDP for its actions in fighting against climate change, as well as for its sustainable water management, making it one of only two companies in the world to achieve this triple-A performance.

Jean-Paul Agon, chairman and chief executive officer of L'Oreal, said: "L'Oreal's teams, committed on a day-to-day basis all over the world, can be proud of this triple recognition, which encourages us to go further and faster in the transformation of our company towards a more sustainable model."
