L’Oreal earns recognition for sustainable water management
L'Oreal has been named as a global leader in its sustainable water management performance by CDP.
The not-for-profit organisation has praised L'Oreal for its actions and strategies and awarded the company with a position on its Water A List for the first time, which celebrates firms that are making good progress in the sustainable management of their water usage.
L’Oreal has committed to reduce its water consumption for production by 60 percent by 2020 from a 2005 baseline. The company has already been able to cut its water consumption from plants and distribution centres by 45 percent for the 2005-2015 period.
To achieve further progress, L'Oreal is making efforts to decrease water consumption while developing innovative projects to reuse and recycle water at production sites.
Jean-Paul Agon, chairman and chief executive officer of L'Oreal, said: "We are proud of this new recognition, which highlights our commitment and the daily engagement of our teams at all our industrial sites in the world."
To compile its report, CDP assessed information provided by 607 large companies in accordance with a scoring methodology developed in collaboration with leading peers and experts in corporate water stewardship, before putting together the final rankings.
