L’Oreal wins award for championing workplace gender equality

21st March 2016

L'Oreal has been handed an award recognising its work in advancing and empowering women in the workplace, marketplace and community.

The company was selected as one of five recipients of the CEO Leadership Award during the 2016 Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) event, held earlier this month at UN Headquarters in New York City.

Jean-Paul Agon, L'Oreal's chairman and chief executive officer, was hailed for his efforts to implement reporting of key metrics, indicators and qualitative information to track gender equality progress within L'Oreal at all levels of its operations.

This comes as part of the wider WEPs Equality Means Business scheme, a joint initiative of UN Women and the UN Global Compact, which is supported by more than 1,100 chief executives.

Mr Agon said: "Measuring what we do is important for us to communicate ethically with integrity and with transparency on our achievements but also on our challenges."

This comes after the firm was recognised by the Ethisphere Institute as one of the world's most ethical companies earlier this month.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801815028-ADNFCR
