Malvern Instruments agrees distribution deal with Affinity Biosensors

31st October 2012

Malvern Instruments has expanded its product range through an exclusive new distribution deal with US-based life science company Affinity Biosensors.

Through this deal, Malvern will take responsibility for the sale of Affinity Biosensors' Archimedes Particle Metrology system through its subsidiaries in Europe and Asia.

The device won a Pittcon Editors Gold Award and an R&D100 Award in 2010 and utilises resonant mass measurement techniques to detect and count particles, allowing their mass and size to be determined with high resolution and accuracy.

It can be used, for example, for the measurement of protein aggregation in biotherapeutic formulations, thus providing critical information needed to speed development and improve drug safety and efficacy.

Duncan Roberts, business development director for Malvern, said: "We are very pleased to be involved with this exciting new technology and to be adding it to our growing range of solutions for biopharmaceutical researchers."

Last month, Malvern Instruments allied with Malvern St James Girls' School in Worcestershire to launch a scheme aimed at promoting science and engineering careers to girls.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-801479874-ADNFCR
