Medtronic and Fitbit to offer integrated health and activity tracking

12th December 2016

Medtronic has announced a new collaboration with Fitbit that will provide integrated health and activity tracking for patients living with diabetes.

The partnership will allow users of Medtronic's iPro2 myLog mobile app to see their glucose levels alongside physical activity data taken from their Fitbit device, helping them to review all of this information in one streamlined location.

This will help to provide meaningful insights into how exercise impacts glucose levels for more effective diabetes care management, while eliminating the need for users of the iPro2 glucose management system to enter physical activity data manually.

With these updates to myLog, the sharing of information with a patient's healthcare team will also be easier, facilitating productive discussions about care and the benefits of exercise on diabetes management.

Laura Stoltenberg, vice-president and general manager of non-intensive diabetes therapies at Medtronic, said: "By helping people with diabetes implement lasting lifestyle changes, this partnership underscores our commitment to transforming diabetes care, together, for greater freedom and better health."

The iPro2 system records a patient's glucose levels 24 hours a day for up to six days, with the companion myLog mobile app available for iOS and Android devices.
