Medtronic included in latest Dow Jones Sustainability Index

12th September 2016

Medtronic has been included in the Dow Jones Sustainability North America Index for the ninth consecutive year.

The renowned index is published annually and analyses companies on a variety of sustainability criteria, including economic performance, environmental stewardship and social responsibility. It was launched in 1999 as the first global sustainability benchmark.

Medtronic has shown commitment to high standards across a number of key metrics, including access to healthcare, product quality and patient safety, ethical business practices, responsible supply management, employee engagement and development, human rights, and environmental stewardship.

Omar Ishrak, Medtronic's chairman and chief executive officer, said: "Strong and sustainable environmental, social, and corporate governance practices and our efforts to address chronic disease are important drivers of delivering long-term consistent growth for all of our stakeholders."

This comes after the firm was included once again in the FTSE4Good Index Series earlier this year, further underlining the company's strong sustainability performance. It was also recognised in Corporate Responsibility Magazine's 100 Best Corporate Citizens list.
