Medtronic launches MiniMed Mio Advance infusion set for diabetes

Medtronic has announced the launch of MiniMed Mio Advance, a new infusion set for diabetes patients receiving insulin pump therapy.

The new system has been created to offer simpler and faster set changes with fewer steps, with its user-friendly design allowing for one-handed insertion and flexibility to access hard-to-reach sites. The lack of a visible needle enhances the patient experience further.

Early feedback on the MiniMed Mio Advance infusion set has been strong, with both patients and healthcare professionals experiencing better outcomes and greater ease of use. A customer survey showed that more than 85 percent of users regarded the system as better than their previous infusion set, and were satisfied with their experience.

Annette Bruls, president of diabetes services and solutions at Medtronic, said: "Our goal is to continuously improve and innovate on core technologies to help people with diabetes continue to experience greater freedom and better health."

MiniMed Mio Advance will launch in Canada, Hong Kong and certain European countries between February and April 2018, with other territories to be added over the course of the year.
