Medtronic launches mobile app for cardiac devices

29th June 2011

Medtronic has announced the launch of its new CareLink Mobile Application, which provides physicians with convenient access to cardiac device data from patients.

The application allows users to interface with data from the CareLink Network remote monitoring system at any time, which means they can review CareAlert transmissions and diagnostic information.

Clinicians can therefore utilise devices such as smartphones and tablet computers to monitor and respond to clinical events as soon as possible, resulting in more proactive patient care.

Pat Mackin, president of the cardiac rhythm disease management business and senior vice-president at Medtronic, said this will help to reinforce the benefits doctors are already extracting from remote monitoring technology.

"Medtronic is committed to advancing the continuum of patient care by introducing tools that help physicians deliver positive patient outcomes through earlier intervention," he said.

Last week, the company published data from a new study of its Valiant thoracic stent graft system, during which it was able to demonstrate its safety and efficacy among thoracic aortic aneurysm patients.ADNFCR-8000103-ID-800603492-ADNFCR
